God has once more sent a Messenger, Bahá’u’lláh, to create a new world and breathe a new life into every human frame. Once more the breath of the Holy Spirit has been wafted, and the Face of God has shone upon the world. The new teachings and principles brought by Bahá’u’lláh are needed to solve the manifold problems of today's world. The Revelations of the past enable man to attain the capacity to understand and utilize these new teachings for his own progress.
The Revelation of Bahá’u’lláh is invested with the necessary potency to bring about the unity of the human race. It ushers in the Golden Age of mankind and the Most Great Peace towards which all people of goodwill throughout the centuries had inclined hearts, and of which seers and poets for countless generations had expressed their vision. All the sacred scriptures had announced this new Age.
Some social teachings of the Bahá'í Faith are summed up in the following words:
- The independent search after truth, unfettered by superstition or tradition;
- The oneness of the entire human race, the pivotal principle and fundamental doctrine of the Faith;
- The basic unity of all the religions;
- The condemnation of all forms of prejudices whether religious, racial, of class or national;
- The harmony which must exist between religion and science;
- The equality of men and women, the two wings on which the bird of humankind is able to soar;
- The introduction of compulsory education;
- The adoption of a universal auxiliary language;
- The abolition of the extreme of wealth and poverty;
- The institution of a world tribunal for the adjudication of disputes between nations;
- The exaltation of work, performed in the spirit of service, to the rank of worship;
- The glorification of justice as the ruling principle in human society, and of religion as a bulwark for the protection of all peoples and nations;
- And the establishment of a permanent and universal peace as the supreme goal of all mankind
These teachings stand out as the essential elements of that Divine polity which Bahá’u’lláh revealed in over a hundred books. He also addressed some epistles to the kings and Rulers of the world. His message to mankind is unique in its comprehensiveness, and scope
Bahá’u’lláh established a powerful and dynamic Covenant with humankind, which binds together and unites the Bahá’í community in all its diversity. Bahá’u’lláh appointed His eldest Son, Abdu’l-Bahá as the Centre of this Covenant, and established an Administrative Order that serves as a channel through which the spirit of the Faith flows, invigorating individual and collective efforts to contribute to the well-being of society.
