The Bahá’í Faith was founded by Bahá’u’lláh in 1863, and it is the youngest of the world’s independent religions. "Bahá’u’lláh" is a title that means the "Glory of God". Bahá’u’lláh is believed to be the Promised One of all Ages and of all Religions and the Bearer of the Revelation of God for this day; He brings the Guidance and teachings of God for our age. The followers of Bahá’u’lláh are called Bahá’is.
The Bahá'í Faith teaches that there is only one God, that all the religions of the world come from the same God, and that they differ due to the requirements of the age at which they were born.
Now is the time for humanity to recognize its unity and live in peace and harmony. Bahá’u’lláh has taught us the three onenesses:
- The oneness of God
- The oneness of Religion
- The oneness of Mankind
Bahá’u’lláh says: "The world is one country and mankind its citizens".
“Verily I say, this is the Day in which mankind can behold the Face, and hear the Voice, of the Promised One. …It behoveth every man to blot out the trace of every idle word from the tablet of his heart and to gaze with an open and unbiased mind on the signs of His Revelation, the proofs of His Mission, and the tokens of His glory.” - Bahá’u’lláh
Divine in origin, the Bahá’í Faith is all-embracing and global in scope, as mirrored in its membership. Baha’is come from virtually every ethnic group, and culture, social or economic class. Currently, Baha’is represent a cross-section of humanity and live in almost every country, territory, and Island throughout the world.
The message of Bahá’u’lláh provides a compelling vision of a united and prosperous global society, in which the entire human family lives in perfect peace, unity, and collaboration. Among the fundamental teachings of Bahá’u’lláh are unity, the elimination of all forms of prejudice, the full equality of women and men, the centrality of justice in all human endeavours, and the importance of education. He also teaches that true life is the life of the spirit.
